Here is a self marking ‘Reading the mind in the Eyes Task’ that you might want to try http://glennrowe.net/BaronCohen/Faces/EyesTest.aspx Although note that this test is different from the one used in the core study as it provides you with four mental states to choose from unlike the Baron-Cohen et al. study which only provides two mental states. Good luck. Oh and here is a flashier version of the same Eyes Task.

You could also try this powerpoint but you will need a pen and paper or a really, really good memory.

The video below shows Simon Baron-Cohen diagnosing Daniel Tammet as a very high functioning person with autism. It is almost 10 minutes long and is the second video of five documenting Daniel. When you have the time, do watch the whole documentary.

Added a summary of this study on holah.co.uk It will get better over the coming months.

It’s not the best summary ever written as it is difficult to do justice to such an influential 40 page experimental case study. I would like to delete a few bits to make it shorter and easier to read but would also like to add more about the quantitative data collected and add a bit more evaluation too. A work in progress I suppose.

Whilst perusing Reicher and Haslam’s excellent site for the BBC Experiment I noticed that the Open University have some superb social psychology videos online. Have a look at the video of the BBC experiment with a great commentary from Professor Alex Haslam. Hopefully you will also see Alex’s genuine enthusiasm for social psychology as I did recently when I had the opportunity to chat with him in Exeter.

It is also great to discover that In September 2009, work on the BBC Prison Study received the British Psychology Society’s Annual Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award recognized “the influence the study has had on the social psychology curriculum and [the researchers'] commitment to supporting psychology teachers”.
